You’ll often hear car-makers show off a sports car’s zero-to-60 performance in a few seconds. But it’s impossible for big trucks to do so. But now, Tesla has made it.
Tesla introduced its new semi-truck. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, said the new truck could go from zero to 60 miles an hour in 5 seconds with an empty load(负载). With a full load, the truck can still reach that speed in 20 seconds, according to Musk. It means the truck can go much faster than any diesel-powered truck.
Finally, after talking about the truck’s speed, Musk mentioned its range(最大行程). It can go up to 500 miles with a full load at highway speeds, he said.
That’s more than twice the distance of most trucking routes(单程距离), Musk claimed. So it allows a driver to make a round trip before recharging(重新充电). 300-mile trucks will also be at the market in the near future.
But truck drivers may still be a bit worried because 500 miles is far less than diesel trucks can travel. And recharging truck batteries takes more time.
