Most of us have three meals a day. We 1 our meals for granted(想当然) because there is always plenty of food available. But many people around the world aren’t so lucky. Instead, they 2 serious hunger each day.
According to 3 recent UN report, about 113 million people in 53 countries suffered from acute hunger (重度饥饿) last year.
Acute hunger is the most extreme form of hunger—it refers to those 4 will die soon if they don’t have food. One reason for this is war. Some 74 million people, or over half of the number of people 5 acute hunger, are living in war-torn countries.
In addition, climate change and 6 disasters(自然灾害) pushed another 29 million people into acute hunger in 2018, according to the 7 . This number includes people in southern Africa who faced droughts (干旱) last year.
