任务型阅读(二) 社会热点:夸夸群+校园生活
A [2020·原创]
There’s a social media trend that is taking Chinese universities by storm. It’s called “kuakuaqun” (“praise groups”), which refers to social media groups where people go to receive praise, compliments(恭维) and encouragement. Some are free, but some cost money.
(A)起初我很难理解“夸夸群”。 What kind of value do kind words have if I’m paying someone to say them?
I asked some university students about this. Lin Yingying from Quanzhou described the groups as “a joke”, but also offered some insight(见解).
“We rarely hear nice things in real life,” Lin said. (B)“Maybe we are not good at telling people that we’re not feeling well.” She thinks it’s easier for people to share their problems anonymously(匿名地) online.
I’m just surprised that people actually spend money on this, since these “kind words” can sound silly. (C)However, with the world’s development, many different kinds of values are appearing in our society.

The winter holiday is usually a good time to sleep in. But Gao Yuqi, a 14-year-old boy from Anhui, got up at 7 am to run at least 2 kilometers every day during the holiday. (A )In fact, this exercise was part of his homework.
Gao was not (B) (alone/lonely). Many schools across the country asked students to exercise during the winter holiday. Part of the reason is that physical education test scores are now worth more on the senior high school entrance examination(中考). In Anhui, the score is now worth up to 60 points, which is the same as the score for an academic(学术的) subject.
Because of this, Gao’s school—Hefei 168 Taochonghu Middle School—now asks students to run on sunny days and exercise indoors if the weather is bad. Students have to post exercise photos in their classes’ QQ groups. At the Golden Apple Jincheng No.1 Secondary School in Chengdu, students have daily exercise plans. For example, they have to skip rope(跳绳) for two minutes and do three sets of sit-ups each day. Their parents sign off on their plans after they finish exercising.
This has been a big challenge for many students, but has also helped to make exercise a bigger part of their lives. (C)A student named Huang Zhicheng used to hate running. But he is now able to run for half an hour every day. “I have decided to keep doing this in the future,” he said.
Luo Zikun, a 12-year-old student at the Golden Apple School in Chengdu, fell in love with exercise during the holiday. He skips rope for more than 10 minutes every day. “I didn’t exercise a lot in the past. Now it’s time to catch up!” he said.
