Passage 1

Being fooled by others is not a good feeling, and most of the time the person who is fooled will get angry. But on April Fool's Day, everybody is encouraged to play tricks on loved ones and even the strangers you meet on the street. Playing tricks on each other on that day is a tradition and of course, those who were played tricks on by others cannot be annoyed. It is exactly a strange festival, isn't it? But how did it begin?

As a matter of fact, no one exactly knows how April Fool's Day got started. But according to some experts, it was started by Pope Gregory ??, who gave the world the Gregorian calendar.

In 1562, the Gregorian calendar moved the first day of the year from April 1 to January 1. Word did eventually get around, but the news spread too slowly at that time which made some races still regarded April 1 as New Year's Day without knowing they were three months behind the times. And these April fools were tricked by those who knew it. As a result, the tradition made its way to the US.

April Fool's Day is getting more and more popular nowadays. Words like April Fool's Day jokes and April Fool's Day tricks on the website have more than doubled, and words like April Fool's Day jokes for work have also increased greatly.
