探究一:no longer与no more的辨析
相同点:两个短语都有“不再”的意思,在很多情况下可以换用。具体区别如下:
①no longer相当于 ,侧重于在 上不再延长。它们与状态动词或延续性动词连用。其中not...any longer中的any longer置于动词之后,no longer必须写在一起。
②no more相当于not...any more,侧重于在 上不再增加,它们与表示具体动作的动词连用,尤其可与短暂性动词连用。
We have decided to each sell five things we no longer use.
我们决定每个人出售五件不再使用的物品。
We saw him no more.=We didn’t see him again.我们再也没有看到他了。
