Step1. Lead-in
1. Show the study aim of Unit 1.

2.Ask students some questions.
T: How was your weekend?
What do you usually do at the weekend?
Do you usually do some sports at the weekend?
I usually do some sports at the weekend. I think it is good for our health. Do you agree with me? Today let’s talk about sports.

Step2. Presentation
1. Show students some pictures about sports. Elicit basketball, football, table tennis, volleyball, tennis and baseball.
T: What sports do you like? What sports do you know?

2. Talk about the sports. Ask students to make sentences.
T: We have known your favourite sports. Would you like to know my favourite? I like basketball very much, because it’s very exciting and relaxing. But I don’t like baseball, because it’s very boring and difficult. How about you?

3. Work in pairs and ask and answer.
T: I not only like playing basketball, but also like swimming. But I think swimming is more relaxing than playing basketball.”

Step3. Listening
1. Ask students to listen. And answer the questions.

T: Let’s find out the soprts our old friends like.
2. Check the answers together.

Step4. Listening and reading
1. Ask students to listen. And answer the questions.

2. Ask students to read and fill in the box. Make notes using the comparative adjectives.
