Comic strip and welcome to the unit
Teaching Aims:
1. Learn some new words about shopping.
2. Arouse the students’ interests in talking about shopping.
Step 1 Lead-in
Have a free talk like this:
Do you like shopping?
When do you go shopping?
Does your mother like shopping?
Who do you often go shopping with?
Does your friend like shopping?

Step 2 Presentation
Show some pictures to learn the new words:
mall = shopping mall 大型购物中心
shopping n. 购物

Step 3 Listen and answer
Ask students to listen to the conversation between Eddie and Hobo, then answer:
1. Who likes shopping, Eddie or Hobo?
2. Why does Hobo need Eddie?
Step 4 Read and act
Read aloud the conversation in groups, then present the comic strip on the screen for the Ss to act out the conversation.
Step 5 Look and find
1. Complete Part A.
2. Talk about presents.
Step 6 Listen and answer
1. What present does Daniel want to buy for Simon?
2. What does Simon interested in, music or collecting stamps?
Step 7 Talking about buying presents

Step 8 Language points
1. buy sb. sth. = buy sth. for sb.
给某人买某物
e.g. I want to buy my mother a birthday present.
= I want to buy a birthday present for my mother.
2. have an idea 有一个主意（想法）
e.g. have a good idea 有个好主意
have some ideas 有一些想法
3. I’m not sure.
我不清楚。/ 我不知道。/ 我不确定。
