【教学目标】

      2. Master some useful sentences.

      Get students to learn to to talk about dates.

       Make students learn to express their wishes to their friends and family members.

1. Master the new words and useful expressions.
        Words and expressions: happy, happy birthday, old, how old, party, see you.
      2. Master some useful sentences.  
        (1) — How old are you?
           —I’m twelve.My birthday is in August.
        (2) — Do you want to come to my birthday party?
           —When is it?  
          — At three this afternoon.
          — See you.
      难点
        Talk about one's age and birthday party.

     A tape recorder, a projector and handouts.
【教学方法】
任务型教学法、情景交际法、自主学习与合作学习相结合
【课时安排】
     One period
【教学过程】
Step 1: Warm-up
   1. Greet students as usual and check the homework.
     2. Review the names of the months and ask students to spell them.
     3 Review the ordinal numbers by saying: January is the first month of the year.
     4. Ask students to work in pairs and make conversations.
          A: How old are you?
          B: I am twelve.
          A: When is your birthday?
          B: It's on March 6th.
Step 2: Presentation
 Grammar Focus
1. Read through the ordinal numbers in Grammar Focus and recite the rule of the ordinal numbers.
    2.Dictate some of the words like: first, second, third, fifth, eighth, ninth, twelfth, twentieth, twenty-fourth, thirty-sixth.Ask students to write down those words.
    3. Get students to check their answers in pairs.
    4.Ask students to read the sentences in Grammar Focus and pay attention to the possessive pronouns and possessive case of nouns and the use of “in” and “on”.
 Step 3: Practice
1. Teach activity 3a
(1) Ask students to read the questions and answers and make sure they know the meaning of all sentences.
     (2) Ask students to match the questions and answers.
     (3) Invite some students to tell their answers.
     (4) Check the correct answers with the whole class.
     (5) Ask students to work with their partners and practice the conversations.
     (6) Invite some pairs of students to act out their conversations.
 2. Teach activity 3a
 (1) Ask students to read the conversation and try to complete it.
     (2) Check the correct answers with the class.
       Answers: old, I'm, when, birthday, on, in.
     (3) Ask students to work with their partners and practice the conversation.
     (4) Invite some students to act the conversation out.
