OnThursday,ChinaEasternAirlinesandHainanAirlinesbegantoallowpassengerstouseportableelectronicdevices(PED),suchassmartphonesandtablets,butphonesstillhavetobechangedtoairplanemode(飞行模式).ChinaSouthernAirlinesandXiamenAirlinesannouncedtheywouldallowmobilephoneuseonalltheirflightssoon.
ThepermissioncomesaftertheCivilAviationAdministrationofChina(中国民用航空局)askedthatthebanwouldbecanceledearlierthisweek.Accordingtotheguidelinebefore,staffsintheplanesneededtoaskpassengerstoturnoffanydevicesthatcouldinterrupttheflight,evenairplanemodewasnotpermitted.
