The British people are very punctual (守时的). That is a fact. Growing up in Britain, I learn that agreeing to meet at a certain time means that you should arrive at least five minutes early. (1) 如果你晚到一小会儿，你应该打电话道歉。
Things are quite different in Mexico. (2) When you want to meet friends, you make a time with them. However, you can appear at any time from half an hour to an hour and a half later than that time.
Everybody knows this. It was explained to me when I arrived in Mexico, but it is only now that I am really beginning to realize that this is exactly how time works in Mexico. I even have friends whose classmates and teachers all arrive together at their 50 minutes’ lessons 20 minutes late!
(3) That is acceptable in Mexico, but I can’t get used to it. I know that I should leave the house later. I know that I shouldn’t rush so much to be on time. I know that no one will be there when I arrive and (4) 我将不得不独自等待至少三十分钟。
