The pyramids in Egypt are world famous. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, who was the king of Egypt, is the largest one among them. Peopl e regard it as one of the “seven w onders” of the ancient world. It took about 100,000 people over 20 years to build it. The building is m ade up of two million stones. Each stone w eighs more than two tons. The Great Pyramid has fo ur sides and each side is 230.4 meters long, and 138 meters high. Because the pyramids were truly the tombs of the old Egyptian kings, there were a large amount of treasures in them. Af ter a long time, some sections of them have been pulled down or worn out. People recently began to protect and r ebuild these pyramids.
